Downspouts & Extensions

TL;DR

Adding or upgrading a downspout: $80–$180 per drop. Underground PVC drainage with pop-up emitter: $400–$900 per run. Most foundation water problems in KC are downspout problems — and we fix them.

Move water away from your foundation.

Most gutter problems aren't the gutter — they're the downspout. Undersized, poorly placed, or missing-extension downspouts dump thousands of gallons of water right against your foundation every storm. Premier Gutters KC sizes, places, and extends downspouts to move water at least 4 feet from your foundation.

How It Works

Our process for downspouts & extensions.

Every step designed to feel premium and respectful of your time.

Step 02

Sizing + Placement

Upgrade undersized downspouts. Add downspouts where needed. Reposition to avoid foundation impact.

Step 03

Installation

Properly secured to fascia or siding, properly pitched, properly terminated.

Step 04

Drainage Solution

Extensions (4 ft minimum), splash blocks, or full underground drains as needed.

Typical KC Pricing

Standard downspout: $150–$300 each installed. Underground drain extensions: $200–$600 per run. Full system rework: $400–$1,500 depending on size.

FAQ

Downspouts & Extensions questions, answered.

How many downspouts does my house need?

General rule: one downspout per 40 linear feet of gutter for 5" systems, 50 ft for 6" systems. Larger rooflines and steep pitches need more.

Should I bury my downspouts?

If your yard slopes toward the house or you've had basement water issues, yes. Underground drainage with pop-up emitters is far more effective than surface splash blocks.

What size downspouts do I need?

Most KC homes need 2x3" downspouts. Homes over 2,500 sq ft of roofline benefit from 3x4" oversized downspouts that handle 75% more water.

Can you reroute existing downspouts?

Yes. If a downspout is in a bad spot (against a foundation, near a walkway), we can reroute it to a better location.

Do downspouts freeze in winter?

Properly pitched and properly sized downspouts shouldn't. If yours freezes regularly, the drainage is inadequate.
