Kansas City Storm & Hail Gutter Response

KC averages some of the most hail activity in the country. When a storm hits, this page updates with the affected areas and official National Weather Service reports — plus what to check on your gutters and how the insurance claim actually works.

Recent KC storm events

After each major hail or wind event we publish the affected cities and NWS-reported hail sizes here, usually the same day.

No active storm event right now. When the next one hits the metro, this section updates within hours — bookmark this page. In the meantime, storm-season prep: a cleaned, well-pitched gutter system sheds storm water instead of overflowing it into your foundation.
After The Storm

Check these 6 things — from the ground.

  1. Dents and dimples along the gutter face and downspouts — catch the light at an angle and they show.
  2. Paint chips or bright metal on the driveway and in landscaping below the eaves.
  3. Shingle granules piled in splash blocks or at downspout outlets — a sign the roof took hits too.
  4. Sagging runs or separated seams that weren't there before the storm.
  5. Crushed downspout elbows at ground level from wind-thrown debris.
  6. Overflow lines — dirt streaking on siding under the gutter means the system stopped draining during the storm.

Don’t climb a ladder. We inspect for free, and you don’t need to be home. If the roof took damage too, document everything before any contractor — roofer or otherwise — starts work.

Insurance

Gutters are the most under-claimed part of a hail claim.

Adjusters look up at the roof; gutters get eyeballed on the way past. The result: claims routinely scope a full roof replacement and $0–$300 for gutters that actually need full replacement. What fixes that is documentation — a written, line-itemed replacement estimate from a gutter specialist, submitted with your claim.

FAQ

Storm damage questions, answered.

How do I know if hail damaged my gutters?
From the ground, look for: dents or dimples along the gutter face, paint chips or bright metal flecks below the eave, sagging or separated sections, downspouts crushed at ground level, and granule piles from your shingles in the splash blocks. Never climb a ladder after a storm — we inspect for free.
Will insurance pay for hail-damaged gutters?
Often, yes — gutters are commonly covered under the same wind/hail claim as your roof. Adjusters sometimes miss or underscope gutters, which is why a written line-itemed replacement estimate from a gutter specialist helps your claim reflect the real cost. We provide that free.
Do you work with my insurance company?
We provide a free inspection and a written line-itemed estimate you can submit to your carrier as part of your claim, and we're happy to answer scope questions about our estimate. We're not public adjusters and don't negotiate claims on your behalf.
How fast can you inspect after a storm?
After major KC hail events we prioritize storm inspections and typically walk properties within days, with a written estimate within 48 hours of the visit. Call (816) 469-9563 or book online — storm requests get flagged.
Should I repair or replace hail-dented gutters?
Cosmetic dents on an otherwise sound system often aren't worth a claim. Crushed profiles, split seams, broken hangers, or knocked-out pitch usually mean replacement — and if a repair genuinely fixes it, that's what we'll quote. We'll tell you straight either way.
