What is a Drop Outlet?
Drop Outlet: The cutout in the bottom of a gutter where water drops into the downspout.
Full definition
A drop outlet is the rectangular or round cutout in the bottom of a gutter where water exits the gutter and enters the downspout. It's a stress point: the outlet is field-cut, sealed, and connected to the downspout via the elbow. Sealant here typically lasts 10-15 years before re-sealing is needed.
