C9 bulbs are the big, classic, cone-shaped bulbs — spaced along the roofline they create the crisp architectural outline you see on professionally lit homes. They're bright enough to read clearly from the street and from a moving car, which is the whole point of roofline lighting.
Mini lights are the small dense strands — wrong for rooflines (too dim at distance, read as fuzz) but perfect for wrapping tree trunks, bushes, garland and wreaths, and railings, where density up close is what you want.
