What is a Supplement?

Supplement: A written request to an insurance carrier for additional payment when scope changes during the project.

Full definition

A supplement is a written request to an insurance carrier for additional claim payment when actual scope of work exceeds the originally approved scope. Common reasons: hidden fascia rot discovered during install, additional damage discovered after debris is cleared, or items the original adjuster missed.

Missouri requires carriers to respond to supplement requests within 30 days (RSMo §379.140). Supplements should be submitted in writing with photos and updated Xactimate scope.
