Full definition

The International Residential Code (IRC) is a model building code developed by the International Code Council and adopted in some form by virtually every US municipality. The 2018 IRC is currently in widespread use in KC-metro jurisdictions.

Key gutter-relevant provisions: IRC R401.3 requires roof drainage to discharge a minimum of 5 feet from foundations (or splash blocks/extensions to disperse water if discharged closer). Drip edge requirements come from IRC R905 series.
