What is a Hidden Hanger?
Hidden Hanger: An interior gutter bracket screwed into the fascia every 24 inches — the modern standard for residential installation.
Full definition
A hidden hanger is an L-shaped or T-shaped metal bracket that clips inside the gutter and screws into the fascia through a wide bearing area. Spaced every 24 inches, hidden hangers distribute the gutter's load (water weight + ice + debris) across many connection points instead of concentrating it at single nail penetrations.
Hidden hangers are the modern residential standard, replacing the older spike-and-ferrule design that dominated 1960-1990. They cost about $0.50-$1.00 more per linear foot of gutter but extend service life by 30-40%.
