What is a Coil Machine (Brake)?

Coil Machine (Brake): The portable forming machine that turns flat aluminum coil into finished gutter on-site.

Full definition

A coil machine (sometimes called a 'brake' or 'gutter machine') is a portable trailer-mounted device that turns flat aluminum coil into a finished K-style or half-round gutter profile in a continuous run. The machine pulls coil through 17-25 forming wheels that bend the metal into the gutter shape, then cuts to length.

Coil machines cost $20,000-$40,000 new, which is why only seamless installers use them. DIY-ers and handymen install pre-cut sectional gutters because they don't have access to the machine.
