LeafBlaster Pro Explained: Why We Install Them
Last updated: May 23, 2026 · Reading time ~5 min
How LeafBlaster Pro works
LeafBlaster Pro uses a stainless-steel mesh with apertures around 50 microns — small enough to block pine needles, large enough to let water flow freely. The mesh sits on a rigid aluminum frame that snaps over the gutter top.
Two key design choices set it apart from cheap guards:
- Stainless steel doesn't corrode like the painted-steel guards from big-box stores.
- Rigid frame won't sag under leaf load like flexible mesh guards.
Cost compared to LeafFilter / Gutter Helmet
LeafBlaster Pro installed on a typical KC ranch (150 linear feet of gutter): $1,800-$3,200. LeafFilter installed equivalent: $3,500-$6,500. LeafGuard: $7,000-$15,000 (because they replace your gutters with their proprietary one-piece system).
You get equivalent performance for 50-70% less.
When guards don't make sense
If your home has zero mature trees within 30 feet, guards may not pay back. The math: guards eliminate ~$200-$500/year of cleaning. With no trees, you weren't cleaning that often anyway.
Frequently asked
Do LeafBlaster Pro guards ever clog?
Yes — pine pollen and shingle grit can build up on the surface over 2-3 years and need a quick brush-off. Real clogs that block water are extremely rare.
Will they support ladder weight?
The rigid frame supports up to 250 lbs per linear foot — fine for ladder leans, but don't stand on them.
Do they affect HOA approval?
No, because they install on top of standard gutters. Your HOA-approved gutter color is unchanged.
