# What is a pop-up emitter? (Kansas City)

> Premier Gutters KC - NDS-certified drainage contractor. (816) 469-9563. Published pricing.

**Short answer:** The exit door of a buried drainage line: a spring-loaded lid flush with the lawn that pops open under water pressure, releases the flow across the grass, and snaps shut after. No open pipe in the yard, nothing for the mower to hit, no rodent door, no erosion jet. $150-$300 each installed on buried downspout runs, French drains, catch basin lines, and sump discharge lines.

**Winter:** the line slopes continuously so it empties after every flow - no standing water to freeze it shut.
**Maintenance:** lift and rinse once or twice a year.
**Daylight outlets** (open end with rodent grate) do the same job where the lot has a bank to exit from; emitters win on flat suburban lawns - most of KC.
