## Short answer

Aluminum fascia wrap covers the board; replacement fixes it. Wrap over sound, dry wood is a legitimate low-maintenance finish - but wrap capped over soft or rotted fascia just hides active rot while it keeps spreading behind the metal. We rebuild the wood instead: new fascia at $12 to $22 per linear foot installed, primed, and painted. If one bid is dramatically cheaper than the others, ask whether they're replacing the board or covering it.

What wrap actually is: thin aluminum sheet, brake-bent on site and nailed over the face of the existing fascia board. When the wood underneath is sound and dry, it's a fair maintenance-free finish — that's the honest case for it.
Why we don't offer it:

You can't inspect what's covered. Once the metal is on, nobody sees the board again — including you, at resale inspection time.
Wrap over damp or soft wood seals the moisture in. The rot keeps moving into the soffit and rafter tails behind a clean-looking face.

How to compare bids: ask each contractor two questions. Are you removing the board or covering it? What happens to the rot? A wrap bid can be half the price of replacement because it's half the job.
