# Corrugated vs PVC drainage pipe (Kansas City)

**Short answer:** Both work when matched to the job. Dual-wall corrugated (HDPE, smooth interior) = the workhorse for open yard runs - strong, flexible around obstacles, lower half of the $25-$60/LF band. PVC (SDR 35 / Sch 40) = the premium line - rigid smooth bore, root-proof sealed joints, the pick under driveways and for 50-year serviceability, upper half of the band. The one wrong answer: thin single-wall corrugated as a carrier line - it crushes, bellies, and is the pipe our repair crews replace most (its only legit job is the perforated collection leg inside a rock-and-fabric French drain).

Mixed builds are normal: PVC under the drive, dual-wall in the yard. We usually quote both versions so the choice is transparent.
